In Nature and History: It is believed that the jasmine bush originated in India. There are over 40 species of Jasminum that have been identified in India (300 world-wide), with many being used medicinally, spiritually and aromatically. The exquisite flower has been consciously engaged for hundreds of years to adorn people, in death and in celebrations such as weddings, as well as offerings to deities.

On a physical level Jasmine can be a supportive woman’s tonic and remedy. Treating PMS, supporting resolution of painful gynecological problems (listen to Jasmine In Depth in the Pro course for more on this), nourishing the blood (energetically) and stopping discharges. It can treat IBS and colitis with mucus discharges, bronchitis with cough and aid in stalled labor and delivery (sambac variety).

Jasmine excels in the support of the mental and emotional bodies. It supports the emotional body with its sweet fragrance regulating moods. It can uplift the mood, helping with low confidence and depression. I have found it particularly supportive for treating guilt, shame and insecurity related to shock and trauma (see specific lesson on Jasmine with Shock and Trauma). It supports recovery from postpartum depression as well as depression related to sexual trauma. I consider Jasmine to be a primary remedy when working with the impacts of sexual trauma and violation.
