Patchouli, Dark CO2 Select 5 ml

$21.50

Pogostemon cablin - India

This excellent Patchouli oil from India is extracted by a special CO2 process of young leaves that have first been steam-scalded, dried or lightly fermented to effect rupturing of the plant cell walls, resulting in a high patchouli alcohol content. This variety’s organoleptic profile is much better than typical Indonesian or Chinese Patchouli

Patchouli oil is light yellow to dark brown or amber in color and moderately viscous, the only difference between light and dark patchouli oil is the container in which they are distilled. Dark patchouli oil is distilled in iron vats, which impart a dark hue to the oil. Light patchouli oil is distilled in stainless steel vats.

Monara’s iron distilled Patchouli Dark CO2 Select has a very woody, fresh, and characteristic smoky scent. Patchouli is one of the few oils whose scent improves with age, losing some of its coarser notes and developing a sweet top note.

Patchouli is a perennial bushy herb of the Labiatae (mint) family, native to tropical regions of Asia, including Malaysia, the Philippines and India, that is now extensively cultivated in tropical and subtropical countries across Asia and West Africa as well as other parts of the world. Patchouli oil is extracted by steam-distillation of young leaves that have first been steam-scalded, dried or lightly fermented to effect rupturing of the plant cell walls.

Patchouli oil exerts the following therapeutic actions: anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, astringent, cell regenerative, cicatrizant, cytophylactic, deodorant, diuretic, endocrine balancer, febrifuge, fungicide, insecticide, sedative and tonic. It also treats immunological weakness; inflammation; fever; obesity (although many patchouli individuals are thin); symptoms related to fluid balance; water retention; headaches; rapid breathing; nausea; vomiting; abdominal pain; craving for sweets; excessive appetite; binge eating; constipation; diarrhea; colitis; hemorrhoids; impotence; PMS; menopausal hot flashes; frigidity; sexual anxiety; varicose veins; inflamed skin; rough, dehydrated skin; excessive perspiration; acne; impetigo; dandruff; oil scalp; eczema; dermatitis; skin redness; weeping eruptions; herpes; athlete’ s foot; skin ulcers; cellulite; sores; wounds; scar tissue; insect bites.

Patchouli is a powerful softener for inner resistance: Particularly the tension and resistance born from the divide or “schism” between the Persona and the Shadow. In other words, the wanted and the unwanted aspects of our personality and our experience as a reflection of our personality. Also treats nervous exhaustion; anxiety; apprehension; very tense; negative thinking; depression; lethargy; mood swings; emotional numbness; indecision; substance addiction.
