Originally from India, Vetiver can be found throughout tropical regions mainly in Southeast Asia especially Indonesia, South India, The Comoros Islands, Reunion, Bourbon, Haiti, Angola, China, the Caribbean Islands and Brazil. It is steam distilled from the washed dried and sliced rootlets. One pound of the oil is produced from about 200 pounds of the root. The product is an amber or olive brown, thick liquid.

Antibacterial,anti-infectious, antiseptic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, calmative, sedative, neurotonic, general tonic, vulnerable substance. There are clinical pearls to support its use as an immune regulator, anti-allergic, spasmolytic, and antipyretic.
